CM Solar Panel Scheme 2025 – Eligibility, Status Check & Latest Updates

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s CM Solar Panel Scheme is progressing steadily as of June 2025. Aimed at delivering free solar energy systems to 100,000 low-income households, this program is part of the government’s push to reduce electricity costs and promote clean, renewable energy across the province.
Latest Developments
Also known as the Roshan Gharana Program, this initiative began earlier in 2025, with the first batch of solar panels arriving in February. By May, over 94,000 homes were set to receive systems. In Phase 1, 50,000 households are being covered under a budget of Rs 12.6 billion.

Key updates:
- Balloting was completed in early May
- Physical verification of selected applicants is underway
- Work on installations began in the last week of May and is likely to wrap up by July 2025.
- So far, the program has helped cut 57,000 tonnes of carbon emissions
Who Is Eligible?
- Electricity Usage: Monthly electricity consumption must be 200 units or less
- Residency: Must be a resident of Punjab with a valid CNIC (ID card)
- First-time Applicants Only: Households with existing solar systems or duplicate entries will not be considered
How to Check Application Status

What Comes Next?
Qualified applicants will receive complete solar kits, including panels, inverters, and batteries. Each kit will be linked to the applicant’s CNIC to prevent fraud and misuse.
The government also plans to expand the program beyond 2025, with a focus on rural areas and additional budget allocations. Applicants not selected in the current round will have another chance in future phases expected later this year.
Why This Matters
In a time of high electricity prices and frequent power outages, this scheme provides genuine relief to low-income families while advancing Pakistan’s clean energy objectives. It’s also setting a strong example for other provinces to follow.
