Big Relief for Citizens as Chicken Prices Drop in Major Cities by GOVT

Consumers across Pakistan have received welcome news as chicken prices fall in several major cities, providing much-needed relief amid rising living costs. Cities such as Lahore, Multan, and Peshawar have reported significant reductions in the prices of live broiler chicken and chicken meat.

In Lahore, the wholesale price of live broiler chicken has dropped by Rs. 10 per kilogram, now standing at Rs. 304, while the retail rate is Rs. 318 per kg. Chicken meat has become cheaper by Rs. 14, now available at Rs. 461 per kg, compared to the previous rate of Rs. 475. On the other hand, egg prices have gone up by Rs. 2 per dozen, reaching a new rate of Rs. 317.

In Multan, chicken prices have also gone down. Live chicken is now selling at Rs. 286 per kg in wholesale, while the retail price is slightly higher. RS. 300 per kg, showing a reduction of Rs. 8. Chicken meat is now Rs. 435 per kg, Rs. 11 less than before. On the other hand, egg prices rose by Rs. 3, now being sold for Rs. 317 per dozen.

Peshawar saw the most dramatic change. Within a week, the cost of live broiler chicken has fallen sharply from its previous rate Rs. 380 to Rs. 315 per kg, showing a Rs. 65 reduction. This change has been warmly welcomed by the residents.

These price cuts are likely due to improved poultry supply or reduced demand. With chicken being a regular part of meals in most households, these changes are expected to help many families better manage their food budgets.
