After the recent announcement of Pakistan’s Budget 2025–26, many people are wondering if the US Dollar has become more expensive. In the budget documents, the government set the exchange rate at Rs 290 per dollar. However, this is only an estimated or average rate used for budget planning.
In reality, the inter-bank market rate for the dollar remains between Rs 282 and Rs 283, which is lower than the budget’s estimated rate. This shows that there has been no major increase in the dollar price after the budget. In fact, the market rate has stayed mostly stable before and after the announcement.
For the general public, this is good news, as a stable dollar helps control the prices of imported goods such as fuel, electronics, and food. If the dollar had gone up sharply, it could have caused more inflation.
